Monica McWilliams, MSW, LMSW

about

Clinical Social worker,

Monica is a licensed master social worker who received her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Iowa in 2021. In addition to raising three children, Monica provides therapy, mentoring, coaching, and consultation for adoptees and their families.

Monica tailors her sessions around the unique individual or family that she is working with, using a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach with sensitivity to culture and race. Her goal is to create an environment that is safe, warm, and nurturing, allowing individuals and families time and space they desire to embark on a healing journey. During sessions, she uses an integrated style, drawing from body- and brain-based theories and tools as well as hands-on activities and assignments which empower and equip clients to process their story and create lasting change.

Monica has experience working with expectant parents, college students, student-athletes, people with disabilities and children in various settings. She has also completed Birth Doula training through DONA International and Postpartum Doula training through CAPPA.
