I'm so happy you're here! Finding the right counselor can be daunting. While I believe we need to "feel" our way to the right person and it's an intuitive process, I also know that experience and background are important. I am trained as a clinical social worker and have worked in a variety of settings. and have been in private practice for twelve years. I’ve completed trainings in trauma, EMDR, IFS, Psychedelic Therapy, Spiritual Psychology and Conscious Parenting. I also supervise newly licensed clinical therapists working towards their licensure. I have completed certifications in yoga, meditation, reiki, and bodywork, and have always been drawn to including the body as a powerful portal to healing.
I am a mother to two children who inspire me to grow and evolve every day. I am passionate about helping other parents turn their relationship with their children into one of deep connection and personal growth, no matter how old or how young your child is. I am also passionate about helping people heal from past trauma. I believe we are always capable of healing and integration.
I saw my first client at a treatment facility for teenage girls in 2005. I spent the next ten years working with children and their families. After receiving my Master’s degree, I gained experience working at the VA, Iowa City Hospice, and the Iowa City Community Mental Health Center.
In 2012 I opened my private practice, treating adults, couples, and families. I am passionate about the work that I do, considering it more of a calling then just a profession.
I enjoy helping clients break through the obstacles that seem to be holding them back in life. I use an individualized approach with each client, based on their own unique needs and goals. I work through the intersection of both psychotherapy and spirituality. I draw from my studies of yoga, bodywork, and meditation.
I care deeply about my clients, and frequently check in to see how our process is feeling to them, how their goals have evolved, and how we can continue to fine tune the work to get there.
In a safe and nurturing space, my mission is to provide the container you need to reach your most integrated self.
I consider myself a lifelong learner, and will read just about any book you put in front of me. In my off time I enjoy being outside and connecting with family and friends. I work on my own growth so that I can be a clear channel for the people I work with. I believe that everyone who is in front of me is meant to be there.
The lotus flower represents our ability for transformation. One of the most beautiful flowers, its roots can only grow from the mud, with its petals opening one by one.
